Are you thinking about opening your own business? Opening your own business can be one of the most rewarding, yet intimidating experiences of your life. For some people, owning their own business leads them to a life of financial freedom and self employment. But for others, this business can lead to bankruptcy, loss of time, and a feeling of self doubt.
This intimidation factor, along with other factors such as time constraint, and financial problems, can lead to many people never fulfilling their dream. I am here to tell you though that this dream can be achieved by you, even if you doubt yourself. If you knew that it would take you 4 different businesses to be successful, but the 4th one would become the answer to your dreams, would you go through the process of failing at the first three? Of course you would! Most people don’t realize that sometimes they must go through trial and error to get to the success!
Imagine if every business that anyone ever opened was successful and worked out to be prosperous, then everyone would own their own business! The process of opening up a business is very unrewarding and time and money consuming in the beginning, but this all pays off in the end if you actually stick to it!
The first key to becoming self employed and successful in any endeavor is determination. Without it you have absolutely nothing. You must look at yourself as where you will be in 5 or 10 years, not just 1 or 2. If you stick with something for 5 years then odds are, by the end of that time you will have mastered it and found an income from it. But if you only stick with something for 1 year, then odds are you will end up quitting after a year with an entire year of wasted time and money. If you stick to something and tell yourself that you’re in it for the long haul, then you will succeed!
The second key to becoming self employed is to study. Studying everything you possibly can about owning your own business, the type of business you want to own, your target audience, etc… can all have an amazing impact on the actual performance of your business. Knowledge truly is power when you are self employed. The more you know about a given thing, the more you can use that to your advantage.
The third key to becoming self employed is to have good work ethic. Contrary to what many believe, starting up your own business requires a lot of hard work and self discipline. Those who put in the most work are always the ones who come out on top. The amount of work you put in, combined with the knowledge of what type of work to do, and the determination to stick to it no matter what the result, will all lead you to the group of select few who are proud to be successfully self employed.
